Our Cat and Dog Teeth Cleaning Services

Since we’re ah AAHA-accredited practice, we also follow the AAHA Dental Care guidelines, which advise yearly oral exams and teeth cleanings for adult cats and dogs. Our dog and cat teeth cleaning services in Staten Island include:

  • Oral examinations (checking for dental abnormalities)
  • Dental X-rays
  • Dental cleanings
  • Oral pathology
  • Oral surgeries
  • Tooth extractions
  • Home dental care products
  • Teeth brushing instructions

We evaluate all of our patients for signs of gingivitis or periodontal disease, and develop a treatment plan accordingly. Some pets are more susceptible to tooth loss and plaque buildup than others, and may require more frequent teeth cleanings. We’re happy to discuss all of your pet’s dental care options with you.

What is Periodontal Disease?

Periodontal disease is one of the most common conditions affecting cats and dogs, but it can be prevented with yearly oral exams and teeth cleanings. The disease starts with the buildup of plaque above and below the gum line, which hardens into calculus (tartar) over time. The tartar that accumulates below the gum line is a cause for concern, since the bacteria secreted will damage the surrounding tissues. Periodontal disease is a combination of red, inflamed gums (gingivitis) and soft tissue and bone loss (periodontitis).
